What are server status codes? Just like their name, these are codes that tell you the status of a particular server, or website. The most common status code seen, and usually the only code someone ever sees at all, would be 404 Page Not Found. But plenty of other things can go wrong with a server for any number of reasons, and that includes the servers for your own website or websites.

What this tool is:

Our Server Status Checker tool can be used to identify any potential issues with your website by checking the server status. If you have more than one, or you would also like to check the servers of any potential competitors, or even just the servers of websites you like to use but can't reach for an unknown reason, you can see results for them all at one time, within seconds. Our tool allows you to enter up to 100 websites (one URL per line) in the large text area.

Simply type in each URL - and do not add commas, spaces, or anything else besides a simple line break between each URL - and then click the 'submit' button to see the HTTP code and status for each website.

How this tool works:

We have compiled a list of the main server status codes here that will show up in our tool's results, so that you don't have to go poking around yourself trying to figure out what each one means.

• 200 OK is good - Everything is fine with this server
• 301 Moved Permanently - The requested URL has moved permanently, and all further inquiries should be directed to the new location.
• 302 Found - The server has found a temporary redirection. But do not get rid of the current URL, since the redirect is only temporary.
• 307 Temporary Redirect - Basically the same as 302 Found
• 400 Bad Request - The server did not understand what you were looking for.
• 401 Unauthorized - The server will not grant access to the content without authorization
• 403 Forbidden - The server will not show you the content, regardless of authentication.
• 404 Not Found -The most common and most frustrating status code ever. This lets you know that the file you were looking for is not found. Search engines need a 404 to know which URLs are valid and which aren’t.
• 410 Gone - Like 404 Not Found. It lets you know that the URL you were looking for did exist but is gone.
• 500 Internal Server Error - Another frustratingly common error that means something is wrong with the server.
