If your web page loads very slowly, it can result in a high bounce rate because internet users have zero tolerance for slow loading websites. People generally want to see a web page appear within five seconds and may impatiently refresh or try a different site if the page doesn't load within that time frame. You want to make sure that your website loads quickly, and the size of your webpage will influence that.
The more media on a page, the bigger the page size and the slower it will load. Embedded videos, images, audio, graphics, flash, and other forms of media will increase your page size, and thus slow down your web page. The average size of web pages has been steadily rising, but most normal websites will fall somewhere between 50KB and 200KB.
The average dashboard on youtube.com is about 553 KB. Why the big jump? YouTube is mostly videos, which take up a LOT more space. Videos and images are the biggest culprits of bloated web page size.
How this tool works
Simply type in the URL of whatever web page you are curious about, and then hit 'submit.' The Page Size Checker tool will provide you with the exact size in bytes and the approximate size (down to the one's place) in KB.
If your page size is very high, we suggest you take off a few images or split the content into two separate web pages to decrease size and increase loading speed. Keep your bounce rate low by maintaining a normal page size without too many videos or images.
